Description
In general terms, AQUATOOL is an interface for editing, simulating, reviewing, and analyzing simulation models of watershed management, including water quality simulation.
Application in education
AquaTool is a software tool used for designing and developing decision support systems in water resources management. It allows graphical input of the configuration of a water resources system and its associated databases for subsequent optimization and simulation.
Functionalities
- It can process watershed management analysis models previously developed in AquaTool's monthly-scale version.
- It allows performing calculations on a daily scale using daily data series for elements where data at this scale are available.
- It implements enhancements over monthly models aimed at addressing issues that are relevant on a daily scale.
- It offers versatility for expansion according to new needs.
- As a Decision Support System (DSS), it provides resources to aid in the analysis of various water management-related issues.
- AquaTool is a continuously developing research line, offering not only tools for watershed management analysis but also other resources that facilitate related work development.
Advantages
- Changes in the interface aim to facilitate user management and access to information of different elements. This is achieved through two modules: one for quick searching and selecting elements, and the other for displaying information.
- The OPTIGES module in its version 3.0 includes groundwater modeling (single-cell and multi-cell). Additionally, the other modules (SIMGES, GESCAL, SIMRISK) have also been enhanced.
- The graphical results viewer has been completely revamped with a new interface and fixes for errors from the previous viewer.
